An Invitation to Join

Dear Friend,

Christ Church Cathedral (CCC) invites you to join us in an ecumenical coalition of churches, synangogues, mosques and organizations to combat genocide and other human rights violations worldwide. Our partner, Jewish World Watch (JWW), is a non-government organization (NGO) possessing the licensing capacity for international delivery of relief goods to refugees. Founded in 2004, JWW has since worked to confront genocide in Darfur --- Christ Church Cathedral joining that effort in 2006 with Solar Cooker fundraisers reporting over $7,000.

Now, however, the need has grown worldwide. Here are some facts from JWW sources:

• One sixth of the world's people, 22 percent, live below the poverty line.

• 1.3 billion human beings have no access to safe drinking water.

• 2.6 billion live without the simplest sanitation.

• 841 million people are severely malnourished.

• 150 million people go to bed hungry every night.

• 30,000 children will die today from starvation, lack of shelter, and poverty.

Following our faith, Christ Church Cathedral believes in a theology that forbids inaction in the time of atrocity. We ask you, therefore, to join us! Visit our website often! We will continue to add suggestions and activities, liturgy, speakers, and symposia that CCC will formulate and you will want to attend and / or formulate on your own.
